What's it like to rescue puppy mill dogs?
We rescue these dogs from some of the darkest hells on earth, from the tiny wire cages just bigger than themselves that they have lived in their whole lives, from a dark, cold barn. Where they have only been USED and ABUSED; their whole lives they have only been USED for one of America's most lucrative businesses. Neglected their whole lives, never getting the care they deserve or even mini...mal living conditions. The dogs are made to wear metal chains around their necks with numbered USDA tags, thats how they are identified, they never know a name, only a number. They are SOMEONE not SOMETHING. The mothers have their puppies ripped away from them before they are ready to leave, sold to a broker and then a pet store. The only times they are ever touched are when they are being grabbed by the backs of their necks, tails or legs and ripped from their cage. All they see is darkness, all around, all the time. They have never seen the sunshine, felt the grass (or snow) beneath their feet or breathed a fresh breathe of air. And when they are done being used there are only 2 choices for them, being rescued or death. For the lucky ones who are rescued there is a most always a bright future ahead. And thats where we come in; we take them in, assess them, bathe them, wash them up and groom them, we provide them with the best veterinary care, warm beds and good food. We love them, hold them, talk to them; we tell them everything is going to be alright. Soon most come around, they lick your hands, soon your face and they start to want to be around you, get to know you and feel your love. Some dont understand why we do it, how can you not understand?
